This blog exists to expose the lies and delusions of the present NeoFascist regime of the George W. Bush administration, its hidden overlords, political operatives, sycophants, toadies, apologists, shills, media whores and gigolos, and assorted ragtag clueless camp followers — and to advocate for change, for a return to the (erstwhile or mythical) ethical and constitutional foundations of these United States of America.

The primary reason that we focus on lies and liars is because of their corrosive effect on society and government, and in particular on democratic government. I’ve been a semi-serious student of history and current affairs for some four decades, and I have to say that I have never witnessed an American regime as thoroughly dishonest and utterly corrupt as the present Bush II administration. (Worse than Nixon.) I also believe that our “democracy” (or what passes for democracy), has never been more endangered than at present.

The corrosive effect of the culture of lies and liars on our nation is not limited to the political sphere, however. Another primary danger to our comatose, critical-condition democracy is the blitzkrieg campaign of propaganda, disinformation and lies being waged by corporate America and the multinationals, and by their close partner in crime, the corporate media machine. And clearly (if you’re paying attention), all are in bed with little King George and his court, and they cooperate to keep the whole Big Lie campaign going full tilt.

The objective of this campaign is the establishment of the United States of America as the 21st century’s uber-Empire, with near total dominance of our world’s economic systems, global markets, and governmental systems—in concert, of course, with its international partners in the Corporate Globalization putsch.

This is serious stuff. It seems I remember that our Founders fought and won a war of independence against Empire, and declared that the United States was inalterably opposed to the establishment of our country as an empire, or any endeavors in that direction. Now, Bush regime insiders speak in confidence—if not openly—of the United States as an empire for the new century.

“We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality—judiciously, as you will—we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.”

All this talk of “Deee-MOCK-racy!” and “FREEEEE-dumb!” is ringing awfully hollow. Sickeningly so.

Realistically, this is a working man’s blog—which means that I don’t have boatloads of hours to research and write articles. I have a very intense work life. So I hope that what I do present here (including articles by my guest and resident writers) is, on balance, meaningful, penetrating, illuminating, or at least amusing. And with any luck, may stir someone to action.

If you’re interested in writing for American Liar, please contact me with some bare sketch or fleshed out proposal of your idea(s). I like to aim for keeping a general theme of lies and liars (and consequences and remedies), but I’m open to an eclectic range of ideas and insights, including philosophical, spiritual, poetic, or comical. You can only rant on about the unceasing torrent of lies for so long. After a while, it becomes tiresome, and you need some humor, some relief, or some spur to action.

Feel free to comment on any articles here, but be advised that all comments are moderated as necessary.

More to come…
